Following the delivery of Altman's final cut, producer Dino De Laurentiis removed approximately twenty minutes of footage. Altman's contract ensured that his cut would play cinemas in the UK, the US, Canada, and France, while other territories screened De Laurentii's version (which would also appear on some VHS releases). The shorter cut contains no unique footage, but does have a slightly altered soundtrack in places to cover the changes.
