- Shriek Show version: 88 minutes 16 seconds. Japan version: 88 minutes 31 seconds. The Shriek Show release is missing some frames here and there but nothing really worth mentioning. When compared to the Japanese version the Shriek Show release has all of the opening scenes including the title sequence in a different order. Which one is correct is anyone's guess. The framing of the film is better on the Shriek Show release. The Shriek Show version is extremely dark throughout the film making it very difficult to see what is taking place. The Japan version is much brighter. The ending of the film really comes to mind which is very clear in the Japan version but you will be wondering what happened in the Shriek Show release as the ending shot is almost impossible to see! An otherwise nice release which is only marred by an overly dark transfer.
