Nishijin (24:55 Min.)
Nishijin (1961) is a documentary film about the entanglements between the gruelling labour conditions of weavers and the traditionalism rooted in Kyoto, and puts Matsumoto's theory of avant-garde documentary into practice.

The Song of Stone (24:29 Min.)
The Song of Stone (1963) is a 16mm film using the photographs that Ernest Satow took of Masayuki Nagare's sculptures and a mason in the village of Ajicho in Kagawa Prefecture while covering a story on the sculptor for LIFE magazine.

Ecstasis (11:08 Min.)
Ecstasis (1969) was produced to accompany Funeral Parade of Roses. In it, Eddie (Peter) shakes her head left and right to express ecstasy and Guevara (Toyosaburo Uchiyama) approchaes the audience with his hands spread wide. In Funeral Parade of Roses, Ectasis is screened in the apartment pary scene.

Metastasis (08:09 Min.)
Metastasis (1971) is a pioneering video art piece in which footage of a toilet seat reminiscent of Marcel Duchamp's work is processed electronically by a medical imaging device (an electrocolor processor).

Expansion (14:07 Min.)
Expansion (1972) developed out of Metastasis. Referencing the footage from Ectasis and his mutli-projection piece Space Projection Ako (1970) that he created for a pavilion at the Japan World Expo, Matsumoto similarly used electronic methods to create this film.

Mona Lisa (03:02 Min.)
For Mona Lisa (1973) Matsumoto used Scanimate, at the time the newest image compositing device on the market and a new addition to film lab, to create this piece by electronically processing footage of the Mona Lisa.

Siki Soku Ze Ku (07:47 Min.)
Siki Soku Ze Ku (1975) or Everything Visible Is Empty is a Japanese Buddhist phrase that appears in the Heart Sutra. The piece attempts to express the physical sensations of a psychedelic experience - the words of the Heart Sutra flicker and repeatedly appear one character at a time in vivid colors.

Atman (11:49 Min.)
Atman (1975) consists of the camera aggressively rotating around a figure wearing a Hannya mask, inducing an intense dizziness in the viewer. The title Atman refers to the concept of true self in Indian philosophy.
