In Sleep, Marlene (Sandra Hüller), keeps an obsessive record of her nightmares, sketching key images when she wakes. Artist Christoph Vieweg created many more images than were seen on screen, all of which provide a glimpse, a clue to the narrative in the film. These images later appeared as part of a gallery show at the Kunstverin Gera, in Thuringia, Germany titled "Floating Transitions".
