Intercutting the comic book panels liberally throughout, Morrissey deftly examines codified masculine imagery and the cultural indoctrination of heroism and patriotism, the creation of the first of an “army of fighting men such as the world has never known,” in the very year that the United States began its bombing campaign against North Vietnam.
