With thanks to Roland Lack and David Bond for pointing this out. [...] I'm afraid I'm the only online reference for this at the moment. I heard about it from film historian David Bond, who in turn heard it from Roland Lack who was in correspondence with Jacques Malthête, Méliès' great-grandson. According to Jacques, the film presented as Le Nouveau seigneur du village on the First Wizard of Cinema DVD 4 was in a film canister labeled Tribulation; or, the Misfortunes of a Cobbler. David Bond points out, however, that the film doesn't match that title at all and Jacques agreed.
